A device into which an eyepiece is inserted and adjusted to bring a telescopic image to focus. A focuser can be as simple as a manual drawtube, but the more efficient type is the "rack-and-pinion" design, whereby a threaded axle affixed with knurled knobs at each end meshes with a threaded drawtube, enabling it to move up or down through the focal plance. Focusers suitable to fit onto Newtonian telescopes are listed in this category. 1.25" as well as 2" focusers are listed.
