Moon

Moon filters reduce the amount of light that is transfered through the eyepiece, giving you a dimmed and more pleasant view of our wonderful moon. Moon filters generally come in two flavors, neutral density and variable polarizing.  The Moon can be dazzling when seen through a telescope, especially when full or near full. A moon filter makes it more comfortable to view and to see fine detail. It also helps to preserve your night vision. We consider it to be an essential accessory.
