The Stronghold tangential assembly has been developed in order to mount telescopes, guiding scopes or tele lenses stiff and precisely but also smoothly adjustable.

The Stronghold Tangential 2D head is fixes viewfinders, guiding scopes, telephoto lenses etc. solidly but adjustable. It can be used in piggyback-mode on telescoes and also as a 2D head for photo tripods.

Fields of use for the Stronghold head:

  • Fixing a guiding scope to the main telescope.
  • Using telephoto lenses for piggy back astro photography.
  • Attaching viewfinders or rich-field telescopes to the existing telescope.
  • Normal photography - adjust the camera precisely for reproducable results.

  • Adjustment range: 46° in azimuth and 70° in elevation.
  • Length: 115mm  /  width: 128mm  /  height: 54mm.

Base side connections:

  • 1/4" and 3/8" photo thread allows mounting on photo tripods.
  • GP dovetail clamp can also be attached on the base side (see picture above).
  • Additional metric thread bores for individual solutions (see scheme below).

Connection possibilities at the top side:

  • 1/4" and 3/8" photo threads.
  • GP/EQ dovetail clamp.

Scope of delivery:

  • Stronghold tangential assembly.
  • Additional lever for firm screw tension.
  • 3/8" to 1/4" (and vice versa) thread adapter.
  • EQ/GP dovetail clamp (can be mounted on both sides).
  • 1/4" photo screw for camera / spotting scope attachment.
